Merchant Acid

Sulphuric Acid – H2SO4

Sulphuric Acid’s multiple properties of acidity, reactivity and corrosivity, in addition to its Sulphur content and its affinity for water, make it so highly versatile that it is used, either directly or indirectly, in virtually every industrial process in the world. It is used in industrial applications such as the production of gasoline, fertilizer, chemicals, paints and batteries.

Chemtrade is currently among the largest North American suppliers of Sulphuric Acid. We supply a variety of Sulphuric Acid products such as Commercial Grade Sulphuric Acid, Oleum, Regen Sulphuric Acid and UltraPure Sulphuric Acid from our marketing partners as well as production facilities in British Columbia, Washington, California, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Texas and Ohio.

Water Chemicals

Chemtrade’s water chemicals team operates an extensive North American plant network, producing both traditional industrial chemicals and customized solutions for our customers. Focussed on water treatment and purification, our water chemicals consist primarily of inorganic salts, used as coagulants by municipal and industrial customers to treat water and wastewater.*

The Water Solutions team also manages the production of a group of products used by poultry growers, as litter amendments, to control ammonia volatilization and improve bird health and productivity.

The team also manages our Specialty Chemicals portfolio. This products are used in a wide range of industries including the paint (ink, pigment, etc.), oil & gas, nutraceutical, food & beverage, and tantalum refining industries.

Ferric Sulphate

Ferric Sulphate

Chemtrade’s Ferric Sulphate is supplied to customers across North America through our network of production sites. Our broad Ferric Sulphate production capabilities allow us to serve the vast North American market most economically. Importantly, we are very selective of the raw materials used in our manufacturing process and work to minimize heavy metals, such as manganese, which can impact our customers’ product quality.

Chemtrade also works with customers to develop and supply special formulations of Ferric Sulphate with additives to address specific requests or provide a treatment benefit. Our custom blends are trademarked as Fer+Ion®.


The Fer+Ion® products line are custom Ferric Sulphate blends formulated to help our customers meet treatment goals. In water and wastewater treatment operations, Fer+Ion® products are proven to:

  • Provide additional Total Organic Carbon (TOC) removal and lower Disinfection By-Product (DBP) formation
  • Aid in faster turbidity and total solids settling
  • Decrease alkali consumption
  • Ease operations via consolidation of required chemicals
