Water Solutions (WS)
Chemtrade’s Water Solutions team operates an extensive North American manufacturing network, producing both industrial chemicals and customized solutions for municipal and industrial customers. Our water treatment products consist primarily of inorganic salts used as coagulants in the treatment of drinking water and wastewater* — helping provide clean, safe, and reliable water supplies across North America. In addition to water treatment chemicals, the team produces a line of poultry litter amendments that help growers control ammonia volatilization, supporting improved bird health and productivity. The acquisition of Polytec in November 2025 enhanced Chemtrade’s Water Solutions segment by adding differentiated, value-added capabilities to its water treatment portfolio. With this addition, Chemtrade now offers integrated water solutions, including specialized chemicals, equipment, and services, to better serve food processing, industrial, and municipal customers.

Aluminum Sulphate (Alum)
Chemtrade is one of North America’s largest Aluminum Sulphate producers. With more than 40 production facilities, we are able to supply a wide range of Aluminum Sulphate grades, both in liquid and dry forms, including standard, low iron, iron free, and food grade.
We can also customize Aluminum Sulphate solutions to match product performance to the application’s requirements. Specialized blends include:
Acid Alum
Acid Alums can be formulated with a specific Alum-to-acid ratio to improve product performance and meet treatment and operations goals. The benefits of acidulated Alum-based products include, but are not limited to:
- Superior Total Organic Carbon (TOC) removal
- Disinfection By-Product (DBP) minimization
- Reduced chemical solids generation
- Lower residual soluble aluminum in the treated water
- Optimal pH treatment
Clar+Ion®
Clar+Ion® products are designed for:
- Improved cold water treatment
- Faster particle settling and turbidity removal
- Decreased alkali consumption
- Minimization of chemical sludge generation
- Controlling algae as well as functioning as a coagulant (EPA & FIFRA registered)
- Ease of operations via consolidation of required chemicals
