Water Solutions & Specialty Chemicals (WSSC)
Chemtrade’s WSSC business segment operates an extensive North American plant network, producing both traditional industrial chemicals and customized solutions for our customers. The Water Solutions segment consists primarily of inorganic salts, used as coagulants by municipal and industrial customers to treat water and wastewater. Additionally, the Water Solutions team produces a group of products used by poultry growers, as litter amendments, to control ammonia volatilization and improve bird health and productivity.
Along with coagulants and poultry litter amendments, WSSC produces Specialty Chemicals used in a wide range of industries including the paint (ink, pigment, etc.), oil & gas, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food & beverage, and tantalum refining industries.

Polyaluminum Chloride (PACl) / Polyaluminum Chlorosulphate (PACS)
Hyper+Ion® is a tradename for a broad product line that includes Chemtrade’s Polyaluminum Hydroxychloride (PACl) and Polyaluminum Chlorosulphate (PACS) products. Chemtrade offers one of the most complete offerings of Polyaluminum Chloride and Polyaluminum Chlorosulphate (PACl/PACS) products. While in many applications, standard PACl/PACS products are precisely what is required, there are instances where stricter regulations or treatment goals require the use of one of Chemtrade’s enhanced PACl or PACS solutions. To meet customer needs, Chemtrade has invested in facilities able to produce these enhanced products.
The enhanced performance of these products has allowed our customers to realize:
- Treated phosphorus levels < 0.075 ppm
- Improved settling rates
- Maximum Total Organic Carbon (TOC) removal
Our strong technical staff can support customer-formulated blends or help design solutions with PACl or PACS as the base material.
