Water Solutions (WS)
Chemtrade’s Water Solutions team operates an extensive North American manufacturing network, producing both industrial chemicals and customized solutions for municipal and industrial customers. Our water treatment products consist primarily of inorganic salts used as coagulants in the treatment of drinking water and wastewater* — helping provide clean, safe, and reliable water supplies across North America. In addition to water treatment chemicals, the team produces a line of poultry litter amendments that help growers control ammonia volatilization, supporting improved bird health and productivity. The acquisition of Polytec in November 2025 enhanced Chemtrade’s Water Solutions segment by adding differentiated, value-added capabilities to its water treatment portfolio. With this addition, Chemtrade now offers integrated water solutions, including specialized chemicals, equipment, and services, to better serve food processing, industrial, and municipal customers.

CAL~FLO® (Calcium Hydroxide)
Chemtrade’s CAL~FLO® slurry is a high-quality liquid calcium hydroxide used in various municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment applications. We can supply CAL~FLO® slurry from multiple locations in North America. With a fleet of test trailers, we can offer full-scale, on-site product demonstrations with full technical support. Following a successful trial period, we are also able to provide technical assistance in the design and installation of equipment required to store and feed CAL~FLO® reliably into your process.
CAL~FLO® slurry has been used successfully in a broad range of applications in municipal water and wastewater markets. It is also used in a range of industrial processes that require reliable, accurate dosing along with safe and low-maintenance feed equipment.
Municipal Drinking Water
CAL~FLO® slurry meets NSF/ANSI/CAN Standard 60 requirements for chemical additives to drinking water. Through strict quality control in its manufacture, each CAL~FLO® slurry shipment is checked for suspension consistency. The most common application points for CAL~FLO® slurry in the drinking water industry are:
- Clearwell/Filtered Water Line: CAL~FLO® slurry typically replaces liquid caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) for pH adjustment. It also provides alkalinity and calcium hardness to address potential corrosion concerns in the distribution system. CAL~FLO® slurry is a safe product for operations. Customers find their spend more consistent than when using caustic soda.
- Raw Water Feed Line/Rapid Mix: CAL~FLO® slurry typically replaces dry lime for alkalinity adjustment, which can be required for more effective coagulation and minimization of metals residuals. The change to CAL~FLO® slurry eliminates the high maintenance and unreliable feed problems associated with dry lime and leads to more consistent treatment.
Municipal and Industrial Wastewater
CAL~FLO® slurry is a consistent source of alkalinity which can be required to neutralize acids, help biological processes, or increase pH for effective operations. CAL~FLO® slurry has also been used to improve solids stabilization and processing as well as address H2S concerns.
