Caustic Soda

Caustic Soda – NaOH

Chemtrade manufactures Caustic Soda (Sodium Hydroxide) at our North Vancouver, British Columbia facility through the Chlor-Alkali process. We have been a key regional supplier of Caustic Soda in Western Canada and the US Pacific Northwest since the 1950s.

In Brazil, our Electrochemicals facility in Espirito Santo supplies Chlor-Alkali products to one of Brazil’s largest pulp and paper mills.

The pulp and paper industry is a major consumer of our Caustic Soda, where it is used to digest wood and also in the bleaching process to neutralize bleached pulp and extract colour residues.

Caustic Soda is also used in municipal water treatment, oil and gas, waste acid neutralization, pH control, caustic scrubbing of off-gases, catalysis, ion exchange regeneration, and on-site generation of sodium hypochlorite.
