NaCl + 3H₂O + electricity → NaClO₃ + 3H₂

Major Application

The largest market for Sodium Chlorate is for the production of chlorine dioxide as a bleaching agent in the Pulp and Paper Industry.  This process is often referred to as “Elemental chlorine-free” bleaching.

Chemtrade’s Sodium Chlorate is supplied in 100 metric ton rail cars of solution or crystal.
